That She Is :)

Blogging has its benefits. I have lost myself in this space earlier, much to the amusement of my spouse. I could spend hours reading blogposts, discussing topics that varied from parenting, to travel to ranting. Some really interesting friends were made.
Some have stayed on in my journey. I remember that one day when I was reading a blog and there was this link that said 'Just a mother of two'. I was curious, not with the 'mother' tag, but this 'just'. I have 2 sons so i'm a mother of two. But this link begged me to click on it. You must too, if you want to know what i'm talking about.

The journey began then. It was just interaction through comments. We moved on to being part of her first book, a proud moment for all her blog readers. It was ' 34 Bubblegums and Candies' and it was a lovely compilation of her blog posts.

Now 3 books later, she Preeti Shenoy is all set to release her 4th book Titled 'The Secret Wish List'. Her writing is simple, touches your heart and her books are so real. It keeps your head nodding with every line, because you've already related to some character in her book.
I'm mighty excited. I'm curious too. All i'm waiting for now is 'The Secret Wish List' that's going to be out on December 14th, 2012

Do take a look at what she's been cooking up and i'm sure you won't come out disappointed.

DECEMBER IS ON US :)))

My blog has gone into coma, and I had worried moments.
It was those days when, every moment was visualised with a blog post, be it an incident, a picture we took. A trip that was just being planned or some that were already taken.
There were dreams that were being discussed and trust me...its was fun blogging about it here.
I had a family all over. Who knew what went into my words.
And then one fine day..it just stopped. NO reason. No motivation. Just a blank space happy being just that.

But then there is always someone out there, who listens to your heart, to your dreams and sings a song.
Last week it was a spur of the moment thing. Monika dangled the carrot in front of me and  suggested we do this marathon blogging this month and I jumped at it. I so needed that motivation.
So folks..this is it..
I start off from this 1st post
and will take you through a journey.
Enjoy as you like it

You are you and so I was born!!

As a newborn, I waited to hear you cry. Strange as it may seem, i'm sure any mom would agree. The sight of a lil baby scrunching his cute face, pursing his lips in preparation to let out a painful howl.Yes! Thats adorable. Not to forget, we moms hurt hearing the cry later. There are many who wait for that moment and click pictures for memories. Lesson learnt: The angle with which you hold your lips tells us how you feel? Many years later it still is the same.

At 1: When the whole world tells me that you are going to be a handful, I wonder what they mean. All I see is that lil podgy fingers, gingerly picking that pesky ant of the corner a second before it finds the mouth. You're too quick for us..our reflexes are still to speed up. Not to forget the endless nights we hurt seeing you upset your system with all this picky actions. But you made us learn. Lesson learnt :You were curious and i'm glad you didnt give up..it helps you as you grow. Only years later, your curiosity is not limited to those pesky ants, but many others.

At 2: You spoke a dime a dozen. To hear that one squeak, we tried silly antics. Yes, we made ourselves look like fools, just for that one word from you. NO! Was genetically embedded..and we thought it was easiest to utter, but years later..NO!!!!is the new mantra.

At 4: While you wore your new uniform all set to start your new life as a student, it hurt. Hurt to see those tears in your eyes. I had lots of fears for your life in school. I worried for your presence there. Years later: Those PTA's I would rather avoid. Oh yes! some are so sweet, I love you for those moments I feel proud. Lesson learnt : School is one journey everyone needs to take, just so you will know there is good and bad out there and that the whole life doesnt rest on laurels alone, but those lil pranks you played while at school too.

At 10: You celebrated the last of your birthdays at home, complete with cake, confetti and noisy games. You were grown up you said. Next year, i'll take my friends out somewhere. This 'somewhere' has now slowly metamorphosised into strange requests. But that one laugh from the otherwise quiet lil boy, makes me 'GIVE' you all. Lesson learnt : This is just a small partytime with friends, where 'my mom will pick me up', years later, i'm waiting at the door at all odd hours, just so you'll drag your branded and classy shoe'd feet in, and walk straight into your room, while I hope you'll tell me how you spent your perfect day.

At 13 : You are now a teen..grown up and tall. But you are still my baby. You still look for me when i'm not around. You talk more to your friends than to me. I'm happy you've got such wonderful friends, but somewhere I want you all by me. Lesson learnt : This is just a phase I know. You will always be my baby..and I will need you more than you will.

At 15 : A benchmark year. You need time to make decisions. You need to think. You are confused. You are lost. Your friends are now 'Everything'. What they say, holds. But dear Son...They grow up too..and one day we will too. You need to do what makes you feel good. Remember I am your MOM..if you do well, i'm going to be MOST proud. Lesson learnt: Let them learn to take decisions, but be there for them. You hurt, I hurt, but within that hides a mom proud of what her child becomes and always wishes for you to be content and happy.

Children make mothers. Without you'll we are nothing. So thank you boys for making me what I am. Twisted and silly, weird and smart, lovable and angry. All that we are is because you have been there.
For all mothers out there. Be there, each moment is precious. Be it good or bad. Its the whole journey.
Happy Mother's Day to all the lovely MOMS.

Dreaming on and on...in the lyrics of a song

And then she surfaced
out of the quagmire of her realms
Reaching out for those dreams
Them that she always thought deemed

Choking on the rays
Those that promised light
The sunshine on those beams
Fading away with it clean

Should she speak forth
Those thoughts left buried
Those that were clambering
To reach the top and failing

Once pushed aside
Like a burr in the wool
Hiding beneath those goals
Shining remembering its role

Stronger and stronger
They struggle to stay
Within their power
To never fade and go away

The light they see
At the end of the tunnel
But all they find
Is the candle flickering
In the hands of the one
Raised to douse it for ever

I'm back...without a fuss but with a buzz...

Ages since I posted here...many reasons to cite, but will leave it...can't be making excuses can I?
Excuses like Doug Brown said .."It is easier to find an excuse than to find a reason.". So I refrain. Its nearly a year now, filled with lots of amazing events in my life, some harrowing, some so fun filled it still brings smiles...but never for once did I think of not blogging.
There was a time , when every move, every sight made us think of it as a blog post..but now its a status on FB or Tweet about it..life's become so fast paced now :P (as if it wasn't earlier!? )..
Some really fun events that i've been through goes like this..
Preethi Shenoy's book launch for her 3rd book " Tea for two and a piece of cake". I know its a wee bit late to be talking about it..but I have to. I had attended her first one too for her book "34 Bubblegums and candies". It was the first time I was meeting her too then. Her journey has been good I know..its risen with confidence. When I heard her speak this time, I knew she was completely into her writing. Poised and confident. I've read all her books. And each one has been a memorable one. Each book, makes one want to put themselves in at least one of her character's shoes and say "Hey, that sounds familiar.."..I know she's already onto her next one...thoughts in place and words in action...so here I go wishing her "ALL THE BEST"
Suma from "Aalochane" (http://myaalochane.blogspot.in/) has been shifting in and out of cities and countries that I think the time zones have had her zoned out..A shout out to her to get back here too..
My sons grew up while I goofed around, and before I knew it they were teaching me stuff..Now its going to take me a while to get back into this blogging jargons, and all these varied stuff I used to do and write before I took a pause..so please bear with me.
Today I was listening to "Ekla chalo re" By Amitabh Bachchan form "Kahaani" and was reminded of my first blog post ..which was about the same poem and made me want to get back ..and here I am
I'm promising myself a blog a week at least for the beginning..so help me out..and
Did I even say, "Yay!!! I'm so glad to be back here..."

I can fly!!!! Mom look :)

They say , don't stop him from doing such creative stuff...
Oh yes! I tried only to be faced with playdough stains, all over his room walls...( they can be ugly too , you know)
Art attack on tv has nearly corroded my heart...what with so many tissue rolls being used( Amma, can I please take a lil bit.....only to see the whole roll dissolve)

Those superhero programs, has given him broken bones, smiles, storyboard sessions....and oh yes! sleepless nights for us too :D

The cartoon shows, - Pokemon, beyblade...either has me scurrying away for a hiding place or wondering if my kid has suddenly turned into some " Great Gambler" ...
Reminds me of those childhood days when outside our house, those street urchins, would sit in packs, playing with some weird paper cards...never understood the craze then. They were shoo'd and bodily lifted out too....but now I see a very similar scenario but in pristine, urbane surroundings...and of course with those very valuable, packs of 100's cards :(
How we see time coming back at you like a flashback in those doordarshan tv days...

The strip above reminded me so much of my lil son, who is always so engrossed in 'making something' as he says....and if he sees a frown on my face of more a 'volcano ready to erupt' look, he quickly writes a "Love you amma!!" and then all the frowns smoothen out...
How can we resist such love... :))
