And then....

The beautiful orange streaks across the sky beckoned her thoughts, and so did her gaze look yonder. She had just come back from a beautiful play, one which she had initially refused to go for. Her friend had insisted, saying she had not stepped out for ages, and she might need the change. She had finally given in and had also enjoyed every moment of her day out. She had felt one with the breeze, the green of the lush trees and also the nip in the air reminded her of the lovely monsoon winds.
She stared out of the window, trying to catch the silver line bordering the dark clouds in the orange sky. It was a fusion of colours, just like her innermost thoughts. She knew in a few minutes all her smiles would dissolve. She had tried talking to her friends about him. But then he was a different persona in front of them. How could she convince them , that what they saw in him was not what he was. He turned into a monster , a person, who couldnt handle negative criticism, someone who wanted repeated assurances that he was good, even if it meant it was a lie. How could she tell them, that she walked on egg shells while he was around. Not knowing
which action of hers, or words would anger him? She hoped he worked late, tonight too, she could sleep peacefully knowing there would be no arguments seeping into the night. She prayed for courage , strength and the guts to voice out her feelings.
But then " “things are not always as they appear”, and she knew only too well the repurcursions if her efforts backfired!
She looked on and on, into the grey of the night!

Hi Prats -- Sharply expressed the feelings of a woman going thru an unsuccessfull marriage.
I'd love to hear your opinion on what you think a woman should do when confronted with such a situation. Whether she should voice out her opinion bravely or should she suppress her feelings and suffer for the sake of the relationship?

aMus said...

wow!!! very beautifully written!!! i like the way u described the sky and her thoughts...

Prats said...

@joy :) thank you. Yes occurances that go ignored.

@broca The guy would be her partner.

@ceedy Yes, the prompts at Matinee muse...I had forgotten to mention that, now i've done it, thanks to you :D
Thank you

@Balu Bingo!! You've read this well. IMO the woman should learn to voice out her opinion. She need not suffer someone else's worngdoings..but there are many who stay silent, not wanting to hurt others or either for want of no strength
Thanks for coming out here

@suma Thanks...:) Sometimes its always nature that reflects a persons thoughts...uncanny but it happens

hey babe.. yeh, going back to a home fulla arguments is teh most unbearable life to lead, be it a amn or a woman..

i think one 's gotat to try to make things work, n if after all teh efforts, one can't see eye-to-eye, one's jus gotat pack y abags n move.. there's no point in consistent suffering.. it only ruins that one chance ya have in life :)

beautifully written babe..

the beautiful colors n how they would dissolve.. awesome melancholy!

Just a q to the writer...

what is it thats holding this girl back and not seek the rainbow?

kids? society? fear? apprehension?

any thoughts? or leave it to our imagination

you know I was more worried about the guy..because for such a person am sure he would have had a tough time to find someone who can put up with is anger..and then when he looses that person, even though he is the cause for the loss, am sure he would be left devastated.

Nicely written:)

Someday I wish I could find a brush that could paint away all the pain in people's hearts... but for that I'd need to find a brush called faith and a painter called God!:)

But what you have written,if just a story, has very crisply written and conveys the batterings of & in life

hi i am a new blogger. i was reading your profile, in the category favorite books, you have writen the following lines

Any paper with words typed on it.....its the smell of the paper and the feel that makes it even more readable...am I crazy???

This is really true with people who love to read. i have Khalid Husseni's Kite Runner in the form of an e-book, i read few chapters sitting on the PC. Its going to be a month i have read only few chapters.
my husband says "when you have the book on the PC, why do you want to buy it?" i was unable to convince him.i have given up reading it on the PC. Guess What's next?
Finally we have decided to by the book.

Yes, certain uncertainties in the girls' life makes her want to maintain some secrecy and keep things to her self.
But would love to know what the readers think about this too...

Prats said...

@preethi Thank you :)

@rambler Thats a new dimension to the story...nice to know that there can be such a thought too...but do you think its right to actually sympathise with a person who is wrong, however hurt he may be?

Prats said...

@ziah Faith comes from within you and God is there holding out his hand to help you in your dreams. I'm sure you'll realise those dreams one day...

Prats said...

@sumana Thanks :D

@broca...Depends on how she works out this situation.

@CU so true...actually this is something that is more like emotional abuse...it can happen to anyone. And yes! It is just a story inspired from a person I know. Thanks

Prats said...

PS - I asked those questions - bcos like you told CU - I know a very close person going thru this...where when alone - all sorts of q's arise but moment among the significant other - reluctance/fear somehow takes precedence
